The environment is also good. We went there at noon. There were only a few tables, but it was very quiet. The sunlight reflected warmly on the dining tables, which was extremely comfortable. The display of food is a bit scattered and disorderly. There are desserts and fruits on the left hand side as soon as you enter the door. There are not many varieties and they are enough to eat, but my favorite, cheesecake, is not available. On the right hand side are some hot dishes. I only remember that the steamed fish was good, but nothing else was delicious. Especially the shrimp dumplings were terrible. The filling was sticky and the elastic shrimps could not be seen. They must be improved.

I brought my wife for afternoon tea for her birthday. When I called up a week before to make a reservation, the person on the other end said loudly, "Waiguoren!" (foreigner) and handed the phone to somebody else. When we came on the appointed day, we were directed to three different servers until someone would finally help us. All along, they insisted on speaking to my wife in Chinese (my wife is not Chinese and does not speak Chinese). Then, even though the lounge was mostly empty, we were seated in a corner at a tiny table next to an outside door where workers kept coming in and out. I asked the server if we could change tables. She hesitated but moved us to a couch area in the center of the lounge that had a sign on the table "Reserved." We had a reservation. We sat for ten minutes as the three servers behind the counter ignored us and scurried back and forth to the tables to other patrons. I finally got up and asked in Chinese, "Are we supposed to wait? We are waiting for someone to help us." The three servers acted shocked and then got a fourth person to help us. We were there for an hour and a half. Nobody came to check on us at all, only at 3:15 when someone informed us we needed to leave so they could prepare for the dinner service (this was never communicated to us). All in all, poor service, not up to Ritz-Carlton standard at all. The staff act scared of foreigners (we were unfailingly polite the whole time). A truly mediocre experience. Recommend The Peninsula at Wangfujing for much better afternoon tea.

Highly recommend this as a respite from the crowds. Ritz Carlton lounge area is a wonderful place to unwind and have a cocktail.
