Honestly not even sure to start with this one. Absolutely blown away! From the incredible warm welcome we received from Lewis upon arrival, to the impeccable service by George and the team, to every single dish we tried. Our group of 6 decided to agree on a bunch of dishes to try and share and it was undoubtedly an amazing choice. We got to try over 15+ dishes, each with their own deliciousness. The wood fire cooking was so amazing and the interior design of the restaurant had great vibes. The flavors of the dishes were incredibly layered and impressive offering evolving flavor profiles throughout each bite! This was my 4th Michelin restaurant (first in Canada), and undoubtedly my best. We already can’t wait to come back to this incredible fabulous establishment.
Food was great, as you would expect. Great atmosphere. It could have been a perfect experience but we left with a sour taste in our mouths over a service-related issue. We opted for the tasting menu and were told that it is flexible and we can say if there is something that we really want or not. Our fault - we didn't know there is a steak tartare option on the menu that we don't really eat, so we were a bit frustrated getting that as our first course. Then we saw the bone marrow dish, served next to us and it looked great so we asked if we could try that - we got the dish (and so happy we did as it was amazing), but we were charged separately for it. We noticed it was the full size dish so we were wondering, but when we only got 1 dessert to share, we figured that was the offset - until we got the bill. What really ticked us off is that, towards the end of our meal, two separate couples seating next to us, who were served by another waiter, were given a MUCH better explanation of how the tasting menu works - that you can look at the entire menu, choose dishes you want, consult on what you're getting, and ensure you try all the dishes you want to try. That is NOT what we were advised and, had we got that kind of an explanation, it would have been a whole different experience. Paying $135/person on food only you have certain expectations. having to add $50+ for another dish and sharing just one dessert (when we later heard from a friend who recommended the restaurant that they got to try 2 desserts just a couple of weeks earlier), was less than we expected. I feel bad for rating service lower as the rest of the service was awesome, but this one thing is really what soured our experience.
