Grado, nestled right on the edge of Rio de Janeiro's botanical gardens, offers an open kitchen, an old house setting, and the warmth and welcome of Chef Nello Garaventa and manager Lara Atamian. This is a prefix for $198R. It includes bread, appetizer, entree and dessert. Definitely go hungry. The menu, predominantly in Portuguese, doesn't pose a language barrier thanks to the fantastic English-speaking staff. The flaky, lemony fish of the day and irresistible bread make for a memorable dining experience. The fish was like butter. Don't miss the exquisite ceviche appetizer. The wood-fired oven adds charm. The restaurant's quaint interior, adorned with quirky decorations and curated bookshelves, creates a cozy atmosphere.
Superb Italian food ! So happy to have been able to eat here. The kitchen does excellent work and the entire staff is attentive and caring. The chef here puts out some amazing dishes - definitely try to eggplant in red sauce as a starter - my mind was blown at how good it was. We don’t speak much Portuguese but that was not an issue as they provided waitstaff to us that spoke English. Extensive wine list and prices were quite reasonable at going exchange rates (5.5rs : 1usd). Believe they only do a tasting menu which was 178rs per person and includes a starter, main course and dessert.
