Panjshir was recommended by a local, which is always good. The restaurant is centrally located, large and nicely decorated. The menu is large and varied and caters for all sorts of tastes. It was our first time with Afghan food so we asked the server to assist us with our menu. We started with "Muntoo" - Steamed dumplings stuffed with meat. Great. Then the lady took the "Aush" - noodle soup with veggies. Loved it. I took the "Mashawa" - Lentil soup with yogurt and mint. Lovely. For mains we shared a "Kadu Palow" - Lamb with Pumpkin, yogurt and rice, and "Sabsi Chalow" - Pureed Spinach with special spices and spinach rice - Yummy!! For dessert we shared a "Chocolate Firnee" - Afghan chocolate pudding with almonds, pistachios and cardamom - Wow!! The whole meal was a festival of new flavours and colours. A wonderful experience!! Not to be Missed!!
Flavorful Afghani restaurant with authentic decor. We called for reservations. Jonathan our server was really nice and helpful. The decor has pictures of Afghanistan, kites on the ceiling, mirrors around. Its a small place in a strip mall. They have a full bar including Indian beer. We started with turnovers stuffed with beef and onions with spicy mint sauce. They also served us hot bread. We enjoyed the eggplant as a side, very well flavored. We had chicken curry with rice. Grilled meats platter was really good. The firnee and fried dough with pistachios was delicious. A must visit in area
