One of the tastier restaurants I’ve been. Afghan food. What can I say? Just wonderful! Located in an area where there isn’t much to do or see but easy to be found and reach with the taxi.
Super friendly food and super clean. Cosy and in a quiet area. Very delicious food. Visited with friends. Tried: green salad, yogurt salad, chicken curry, qabli rice, mutton pilav, Afghan tea and naan. Everything was tasty and recommend.
Zaytoon is a very beautiful, romantic restaurant with fire pits and live music. The ambiance is a ten, the service staff topflight and the food off the charts. They also have cozy, heated tables for twosomes. The food is Mediterranean and is devine. Succulent chicken, beef, and lamb grilled to perfection. All are served with their famous Fattoush salad. Deserts is simple sweet baklava, homemade of course. All the food is house made, fresh and tasty. Zaytoon is must when visiting the Central Coast. Reservations are advised.
Last night I took my wife to Zaytoon after a Pearl Chase Society lecture next door at the Alcima Theatre. I thought it would be a nice opportunity to finally try what I thought was a pleasant patio. I was very disappointed. The loudness of the venue was exacerbated by the very loud rock music being played. I ordered the Kebab Combo and the Stuffed Grape Leaves. My wife had the Watermelon salad. The meat in the Kebab was tough and overcooked. The Grape Leaves were canned store-bought. The Watermelon salad had so much low-quality balsamic vinegar that it overwhelmed all the other ingredients. It’s hard to believe a proper chef would let such food out of the kitchen. The waiter was brusk except when he was hustling us for drinks. He even approached us for additional drinks before we had finished our current drinks. The bussers grabbed our dishes almost before we were finished, reaching over the plates that we were still eating from. Being locals, we have come to not expect very much from Santa Barbara’s restaurants. The result of being a tourist town. Zaytoon was a new low.
